About Uncle Eugene
Eugene’s passion & commitment to country is evident from the first moment you hear him speak. Deeply in tune with the wildlife & plants of native Australia, he provides an extensive education into the connection between the two!

For Decades Eugene has walked the boundaries of his country, including travels to where his ancestors once gathered. He is constantly learning from the past and bringing this knowledge into the future and sharing this wisdom to ensure it remains for generations to come.

Eugene grows an amazing world of beauty around himself running his own unique Aboriginal Australlian Bush Nursery, Consultancy & Floristy service with his focus on the connection between the creatures, culture and a healthy bush forest.

His personal life-long regeneration project at his black snake property in the mountains near Kilkivan (bordering Bunya Mountains hinterlands, Cooloola & Sunshine Coast regions). His lifestyle, property & residence is currently under threat by mining & Sustainable Power Industry development interests - the land where his grandmother & mother grew up.

Please note we will be doing some filming on the day.

Eugene wished to share his traditional bush knowledge and a love of Country with people who have the same passion for regenerating our land, we all call our home!

“Country is not just a place to live, it’s where you learn to LIVE, a place to breathe, freedome….Celebrate & harvest life’s simplest joys !!

If you are feelihg drawn to connect, to understand & learn culture, traditions & experience this beautiful country cine & spend an afternoon with Elder Uncle Eugene Bargo & his hosts Milly Hine & Marc Bright from Serpentinne Ridge Conscious Living Healing Retreat (50 acres of natural bushland nestled in the arms of Mt Widgee )

Serpentine Ridge is a unique property located in Wlidgee, surrounded by mountains make of Serpentine rock. Thousands & thousands of ancient grass trees are thriving amongst this serpent patterned stone. You know when you are nearly at Serpentine Ridge, palm trees start to appear & there is something different that you feel….Serpentine - Spiritual & Divine, vibrational energy coming from being around this stone can be palpably felt & has amazing spiritual & healing qualities, some things are better experienced than described as you will find out…

Bunya tree Planting - ancient & delicious, a symbol of cultural resilience, here at Serpentine Ridge we honor & respect the Bunyi-Bunyi within Aboriginal Culture is a sacred tree. The Bunya nuts (traditionally gathered by the men) were used to trade for food, information, new knowledge and even for arranging marriages & resolving issues or Law. We are creating a Bunya Trail from each tree lovingly planted on our tree planting events & celebration days. You can be part of this beautiful process, tree planting & bunya trails creation where you can follow up & can come back again to visit & see the growing tree you planted on any of your future visits.

Your Hosts, Milly Hine & Marc Bright - Milly has been a custodian of Serpentine Ridge for over 33 years & is dedicated & deeply inspired by living close to nature & draws from its beauty & energy to create her art (which you can visit in her gallery workshop) which is truly from the heart. You may have participated in one of her creative gatherings events? Her vision for the property has expaned over the years & certainly since Marc has come along & joined in with his amazing skills set. People come to visit the land to go for a walk & experience the spectacular views especially at flowering time of the grass trees when the birdlife is so abundant, to now offering opportunities for people to enjoy creating art re-discovering their playful & wonderous creative being that’s been waiting to be let out & learning new skills, events, planting trees, excursions, chilling out & connecting with the quietness of this vibrant land.

Marc has played a big role in revegetating many areas within the Cooloola & Sunshine Coast region & over the years has been involved in wildlife rescue. He share his understanding of culture & connection to educate & inspire. Young & old have experienced Marc’s unique way of having fun learning -“Edutainment” with his JoyologyNow & Conscious Cartooning Murals & homeschoolers workbooks at Community Events & Festivals.

Together Marc & Milly make a great team & share their own wisdom, love of country & playfulness in their connection with community.
